ToggleThe answer to “do UPS deliver on Saturday?” has changed significantly over the past few years.
Saturday used to be associated mainly with premium courier services. That is why some older UK guides still describe UPS Saturday delivery as an expensive optional upgrade costing £15–£25 or more.
That description is no longer accurate for ordinary UPS Standard residential deliveries in the UK.
UPS expanded its Standard service on 24 September 2024, introducing Saturday residential delivery without an additional Saturday surcharge across eight major European markets, including the UK.
UPS said the expansion required no special processing and was intended to give businesses an additional delivery day each week.
There is, however, an important distinction between residential Standard, commercial Standard and Express deliveries. Saturday delivery can be free in one situation and chargeable in another.
How Much Does UPS Saturday Delivery Cost in the UK in 2026?
This is where some of the information currently appearing online has become outdated.
UPS issued a surcharge update in March 2025 that reduced its UK Saturday charges to £2.65 for commercial Standard, £6.75 for domestic Express and £13 for Express international exports.
Those numbers were accurate from 23 March 2025.
However, UPS’s current 2026 Service Guide, effective from 7 June 2026, now gives the following prices:
| UPS service | Saturday delivery charge |
| UPS Standard – residential address | £0 additional Saturday charge |
| UPS Standard – UPS Access Point | £0 additional Saturday charge |
| UPS Standard – business/commercial address | £2.80 per shipment |
| UPS Express – domestic | £7.15 per shipment |
| UPS Express – international import | £7.15 per shipment |
| UPS Express – international export | £13.75 per shipment |
These charges are shown by UPS excluding VAT and applicable taxes.
UPS also states that its fuel surcharge can apply to Saturday Delivery, so the Saturday fee should not necessarily be interpreted as the only extra amount that could appear on a business shipping invoice.
Businesses should therefore be careful with articles quoting the old £2.65, £6.75 and £13 figures. Those came directly from UPS’s March 2025 update but have since been superseded by its June 2026 Service Guide.
Does UPS Standard Automatically Deliver on Saturday?
For eligible UPS Standard shipments, Saturday is now part of the normal delivery network rather than something that residential customers need to purchase as an expensive premium add-on.
UPS describes Standard Saturday delivery as a general service, with no special contract required. Its 2024 expansion announcement also specifically said residential Saturday deliveries involved no additional fee or special processing.
That does not mean every Standard parcel posted on Friday will automatically arrive on Saturday.
The scheduled delivery date still depends on factors such as the origin, destination, when the parcel entered the network and the applicable transit time.
UPS Standard remains a scheduled day-definite service, so the parcel’s tracking information and calculated delivery date are more useful than simply looking at the dispatch day.
For a normal residential UPS Standard shipment that is scheduled for Saturday, however, the sender does not need to purchase the same type of premium Saturday upgrade required for Express delivery.
Commercial destinations are different because the current standard Saturday fee is £2.80 per shipment.
UPS’s weekend-services information also notes that certain commercial customers enrolled in scheduled Saturday collection arrangements may have different charging arrangements.
Who Controls Saturday Delivery: The Sender or Recipient?
This distinction causes a lot of confusion.
With UPS Standard residential deliveries, eligible Saturday delivery forms part of the normal Standard network. The recipient does not have to contact UPS and activate Saturday delivery.
With UPS Express Saturday Delivery, the situation is different. UPS treats it as an optional service for time-critical shipments, with separate Saturday charges and route availability. The shipping service is therefore selected when the sender creates the shipment.
A recipient should not assume they can take an ordinary Express shipment that is scheduled for Monday and simply upgrade it afterwards into the sender’s paid Saturday Express service.
Recipients can still make certain delivery changes through UPS My Choice or UPS tracking, but those options relate to managing the existing shipment rather than freely replacing the underlying shipping product chosen by the sender.
For urgent Saturday deliveries, businesses should therefore confirm Saturday availability before the parcel is shipped, particularly when using UPS Express.
What Time Does UPS Deliver on Saturday?
There is no single guaranteed delivery hour for every UPS Saturday parcel.
UPS’s UK Saturday-delivery information says most parcels are generally delivered by 8pm. UPS Standard Saturday is described in the current Service Guide as an end-of-day service.
UPS Express Saturday is different. The current Service Guide describes it as a midday UPS Express Saturday Delivery service, although the exact service available still depends on the origin and destination.
Customers should therefore avoid assuming that every Saturday UPS parcel will arrive in the morning.
The most reliable indication is the live tracking attached to the individual shipment.
UPS advises customers that an “Out for Delivery” status means the parcel is on a delivery vehicle, although route conditions and operational issues can still affect the final delivery time.
What Can UPS My Choice Do If No One Will Be Home on Saturday?
A Saturday delivery can be inconvenient if the recipient is away, working or unable to wait at the delivery address.
UPS My Choice allows eligible recipients to manage incoming parcels from one dashboard. Depending on the shipment and restrictions set by the sender, options can include:
- Changing the delivery date or location
- Redirecting an eligible parcel to a UPS Access Point
- Providing instructions about where the driver should leave the parcel
- Asking for delivery to a neighbour and receiving estimated delivery times or shipment notifications.
There is another 2026 change worth knowing about.
UPS’s current Service Guide says delivery instructions remain free, and an online redirect to a UPS Access Point is also free for web guests and My Choice users.
However, changing the delivery date or address through Web My Choice currently costs £3, while telephone requests cost more.
Not every parcel can be changed. UPS says the sender may restrict delivery changes, while some high-value items, imports and other shipments may be ineligible.
Can UPS Parcels Be Collected From an Access Point on Saturday or Sunday?
Yes, many UPS Access Point locations provide weekend opening, but customers should check the individual location’s opening hours rather than assuming every shop follows the same schedule.
UPS Access Points are usually third-party businesses such as convenience stores and other local retailers. Their opening times therefore depend on the host business.
UPS says its tracking system displays the operating hours for the Access Point holding a parcel, including available weekend hours.
This creates an important distinction:
UPS itself does not operate normal Sunday parcel deliveries or collections in the UK, but an independently operated Access Point may still be open for customer collection on a Sunday.
Customers should therefore check the location before travelling rather than treating “UPS does not deliver Sunday” as meaning every UPS collection point must also be closed.
UPS may hold parcels at an Access Point for several days. Its UK guidance generally states around five to seven days, while its InfoNotice guidance says parcels redirected after an unsuccessful delivery attempt can be held for seven calendar days before being returned as undeliverable.
Does UPS Deliver on Saturday Around Bank Holidays?

A nearby bank holiday does not automatically cancel Saturday delivery.
What matters is whether the Saturday itself is an ordinary UPS operating day and whether the parcel has actually been scheduled for delivery.
UPS publishes a detailed UK holiday schedule. For example, in 2026 it lists no delivery or collection service on Good Friday, Easter Monday, the Early May Bank Holiday, the Spring Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and the Boxing Day substitute holiday.
Regional differences also matter.
| 2026 date | Area | UPS position |
| 13 July | Northern Ireland | No delivery or collection |
| 3 August | Scotland | Normal UPS service continues |
| 31 August | England, Wales and Northern Ireland | No delivery or collection |
| 31 August | Scotland | Normal service |
| 30 November | Scotland | Normal UPS service continues |
This is why customers should not apply an England and Wales bank-holiday calendar to every UPS delivery in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
There is also a practical weekend issue.
UPS says that when an “Out for Delivery” parcel cannot be delivered, another attempt is normally made on the next business day.
If a Saturday delivery fails and the following Monday is a UPS bank holiday, that next business day may therefore be Tuesday rather than Monday.
Businesses planning around other courier networks can also compare how public holidays affect Evri bank-holiday deliveries.
Why Is UPS Saturday Delivery Useful for UK Businesses?
Saturday delivery matters particularly for ecommerce businesses because it effectively creates another fulfilment day between Friday and Monday.
A retailer dispatching customer orders late in the week may be able to shorten the customer’s perceived delivery time without automatically moving every residential order onto a premium Express product.
UPS specifically positions its Saturday service as a way for businesses to reach customers faster, replenish stock and avoid waiting until Monday.
For UPS Standard Saturday delivery, UPS says there is no need to separate eligible parcels, and no special contract is required for the general service.
The service is also supported by major UPS shipping systems. UPS lists Enhanced Web Shipping, Internet Shipping, UPS CampusShip, Ship API and WorldShip as systems offering commercial and residential Saturday delivery options.
For startups and growing ecommerce businesses, that means Saturday shipping can be integrated into an existing fulfilment workflow instead of being treated purely as an exceptional manual service.
The commercial-address surcharge should still be factored into fulfilment costs, particularly where a company sends large numbers of B2B orders.
How Does UPS Saturday Delivery Compare With Other UK Couriers?
Weekend delivery is now common across the UK courier market, but the services are not identical.
| Courier | Saturday | Sunday | Main difference |
| UPS | Yes | No regular delivery | Standard residential Saturday delivery has no additional Saturday fee |
| Royal Mail | Yes | Selected services | Some Tracked 24 and Special Delivery parcels can also be delivered Sunday |
| DPD | Yes | Selected services | Dedicated Saturday and Sunday products are available |
| Evri | Yes | Available but service/route dependent | Strong weekend ParcelShop and Locker network |
| DHL Express | Available for qualifying shipments | Not a general service | Saturday availability depends heavily on service and destination |
Royal Mail states that normal Saturday delivery continues for letters and parcels, while selected parcel products now support Sunday delivery too.
DPD’s own shipping documentation includes Saturday, Saturday 10:30, Saturday 12, Sunday and Sunday timed service codes, although availability depends on the customer’s service and booking.
Evri operates Saturday delivery and a wider weekend network, although Sunday home-delivery availability should not be assumed for every parcel or route. DHL differs more significantly from UPS.
Its UK Express guidance says Saturday delivery is available to some international destinations and can require booking through customer service.

How Can You Check Whether a UPS Parcel Will Arrive on Saturday?
The individual UPS tracking record should take priority over a general assumption about weekend deliveries.
A parcel dispatched on Friday is not automatically a Saturday parcel. Its actual delivery date depends on the selected service, when UPS received it, the origin and destination, and the calculated transit time.
Customers can use UPS Tracking Support to see the latest parcel status.
A scheduled Saturday date is the strongest initial indication. An “Out for Delivery” scan on Saturday provides stronger evidence that a delivery attempt is planned that day.
If delivery cannot be completed, UPS normally attempts delivery again on the next applicable business day.
Does UPS Deliver on Sundays in the UK?
UPS currently states that it provides Monday-to-Saturday delivery for residential and commercial parcels but no normal Sunday delivery or collection service in the UK.
That should not be confused with an Access Point being open.
A local shop operating as a UPS Access Point may have weekend opening hours that allow a customer to collect a parcel on Sunday even though no normal UPS Sunday delivery route is operating.
